Orienteering at Lunsen

A short 2.5km jog from our house is the largest and best orienteering map in the Uppsala area. The famous LUNSEN. The area is very flat with small hills (2.5m contour interval) between large forested and open peatlands. The hills are mainly open rock. The map below is a control picking exercise set up by OK Linne that Chris Piller and Mike did last week. This exercise required constant focus. Unfortunately for Mike he was reading his map while stepping into a peatland pool - going up to his waist in water. You think with the amount of time he has spent out studying these ecosystems this spring he would have figured that out by now. Anyway, if you are ever in the Uppsala area you need to go orienteering at Lunsen - a real orienteering challenge.

Sweet.

I'll be in Uppsala in a couple of weekends and plan to spend a little time at Lunsen on June 10. Let me know if you'll be around then. It'd be fun to have some company in the forest.
