German Alps

After a marathon drive along the autobahn through Germany, we finally reached another of the recommended destinations by our German friend – Neuschwantstein Castle near the town of Schwangau in Germany near the Austrian border. This is the castle that Walt Disney based his “Cinderella Castle” on and it is also the Castle used in the film “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang”. Although we arrived too late in the day to take a tour of the Castle, we did hike up to the Castle. As we walked around taking our pictures, we discovered a set of stairs (149 of them to be exact) leading down to a beautiful waterfall (see photo below). A beautiful hidden surprise. Mike and Emma quickly took off their socks and shoes and jumped into the ice cold water.
