Norsk Folkemuseum
On Thursday, Emma and I took the ferry from downtown Oslo to Bygdoy to visit the Norwegian Folkemuseum. We had only planned to stay for a few hours at most, but ended up there for over 5 hours. It is an open-air museum with more than 150 buildings from across Norway which demonstrate both town and country life in the old days. We toured the cobbled streets, farmhouses, town houses and gardens.

We tasted freshly baked “Lefse” bread, listened to folk music and watched folk dancing.

We went on a horse and buggy ride and watched an 18th century “Extreme Makeover” where a woman from the audience was dressed in petticoats, corset, and a satin dress with all of the accessories. We also had the chance to tour a 13th century Stave Church. It was a wonderful way to spend a beautiful sunny day.
