Today was advertised as the 'Touristy Day'. An urban short course through the fields surrounding the town of Zermatt and then down into the town itself (see bottom photo) for some very detailed urban navigation. Between the tourists and the 3,500 participants it was hard to read your map on the run without running into anybody. Sprint orienteering is very popular in Europe and certainly has been gaining popularity in North America too. However, we don't have 'terrain' like this in North America (map to be posted soon) - small villages with tiny roads at various angles and small houses and other buildings. Probably the closest we have to this in North America is the old village in Quebec City. The photo below shows Ted de St. Croix rounding the corner of a hotel in the newer part of town.
