Swiss Orienteering: Day#6

The final day of the Swiss Orienteering Week was advertised as the delightful day - and it certainly lived up the advertisement. We took an underground railway to the finish area and then another gondola to the start area. Mike's knee was in a lot of pain in the morning so he decided to take the day off - and with the World Champs a week away that wasn't a bad idea either. So Emma was the only member of the Wadd Squad to finish all 6 days. The photo above shows Emma running to the start after getting her map. The photo below shows the finish area with the apline pond that many people jumped into after the race was over. All finishers received a Swiss Army Knife (one of the race sponsors).

The Swiss Orienteering Week was by far the BEST multi-day orienteering week we have ever participated in. It was a great mix of terrain from a racing perspective and the tourist opportunities were second to none. The Swiss Orienteering Week will be on our to-do list when it is hosted again.

What's next for us? Well we will be driving north into the Black Forest and then from there into Denmark. Mike has to catch up on his work and will be resting in preparation for the World Orienteering Champs by writing and editing papers. In about a week or so Starr and Emma will be in Oslo Norway and will send a blog update from there. Mike will post blog updates on WOC from Denmark at the Golden Horseshoe Orienteering Club blog site: ghocanadagho.blogspot.com

Great that you're having such a wonderful time. Wish I were there. :-)
